Advantages of Reinforcement Method
If the design value of tensile strength of carbon fibre laminate is approximated to 2000 MPa and that of steel (Q235) is approximated to 200 MPa, then 0.1 mm thick carbon fibre laminate is equivalent to 1 mm thick steel sheet.
It hardly increases the cross-section of components. Carbon fibers laminate are light and thin. It does not need large construction machinery. It is easy to transport, store and construct. With the same amount of work, the construction period of bonding carbon fibers is about 40% of that of bonding steel.
Compared with steel, carbon fibers laminate are inert materials, stainless, not easily corroded by harmful media, and have good durability in harsh environments.
